TECHNOLOGY

Drawing on the results of extensive research operations, we have developed a range of tools that can help to deliver higher quality products and attractive cost reductions from a very reasonable investment.

In combination with the supervision, control, and documentation procedures these products create the conditions needed for a profitable, beneficial product in all market segments.

The Acticut® registered trademark is owned by the company and represents a combination of traditional manufacturing technology, computer-based high technology, and materials development using so-called smart materials.

Acticut® is composed of a number of products.
Active cutting holder: The holder is where the cutter is positioned. When it moves, vibrations appear having a negative effect on the cutting result, such as uneven surfaces, production stops, increased consumption of cutters and retainers, as well as an unacceptable noise level.

A component is placed in the holder that introduces power (actuator) and a movement detector (sensor).

The movement signal is sent to the control unit and is transformed into a counter force sent to the actuator.

Control unit: The brains of the Acticut® system lies in the control unit, comprising an AD/DA transformer and a digital signal processor. These analyze the movement (vibration) and calculate the control signal for the active holder. The mathematical process is based on an algorithm especially adapted for cutting applications. The control unit is placed in close proximity to the reinforcer and the lathe itself.

Supplementary CBM equipment (Condition Based Monitoring): In order to improve the market position for Acticut® the customer should be offered a technology that will optimize the product-solution offering to the cutting industry.

The CBM equipment to be offered, is a camera that observes problems during the cutting process. This ocular capacity in combination with various sensors for both sound and vibrations will enable the customer to supervise, control, document and obtain information in a unified system.
